Dr. Carolina Navarrete

Dr. Navarrete, your Grande Prairie, High Prairie, and Slave Lake Optometrist, was born and raised in Bogota, Colombia where she attended University of La Salle to earn her Doctor of Optometry degree in 1992.  She worked in Colombia for 12 years, before moving to Canada.

In the spring of 2007 Dr. Navarrete went to the University of Waterloo, Ontario to earn her license as an Optometrist in Canada through the International Optometric Bridging Program. She completed her studies via clinical rotations which included ocular disease, pediatrics, contact lens fitting, primary care and referral care in a tertiary medical center.

Dr. Navarrete is a member of the Alberta Association of Optometrist, Alberta College of Optometrist and the Canadian Optometric Association. Even with experience of more than 18 years on her side, Dr. Navarrete has not stopped her education.  She continues to research and implement technology available to optometrists throughout Canada in order to provide patients with the eye care they need. Both her practices, Grande Prairie Eye Care and Slave Lake Eye Care, offer to all area residents co-management with Opthalmologist in Edmonton (Alberta Retinal Consultants, Lasik MD Edmonton, Royal Alexandra Hospital-Regional Eye Centre), Westlock (Doctor Climenhaga) and Grande Prairie in cases of Diabetes, Glaucoma, Cataracts and all eye diseases.

Dr. Navarrete loves to share her free time with her husband, kids and family dog. Her hobbies include traveling, dancing, and listening to music. 


        Dr. A. Machuk

Dr. Machuk obtained his bachelor of science at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver in 2006. Then, after working as a health economist for two years while obtaining his MBA in health sciences he began a career in medicine at the University of British Columbia in 2008. Upon graduating in 2012, he decided to specialize in Ophthalmology. Dr. Machuk  completed his residency training at the University of Alberta, and in 2017 he began working in Edmonton and Grande Prairie. He specializes in the treatment of glaucoma, medical retina, and cataract surgery.

Dr. Machuk is fully accredited to perform cataract, blepharoplasty, Glaukos iStent, pterygium and superficial keratectomy surgery in the Grande Prairie area. He is able to provide access to YAG Capsulotomy, Selective laser trabeculoplasty and laser peripheral iridotomy in his Edmonton office.
