Dr. Carolina Navarrete

Grande Prairie Eye Care

  • Dr. Navarrete, your Grande Prairie, High Prairie, and Slave Lake Optometrist, was born and raised in Bogota, Colombia where she attended University of La Salle to earn her Doctor of Optometry degree in 1992.  She worked in Colombia for 12 years, before moving to Canada.

In the spring of 2007 Dr. Navarrete went to the University of Waterloo, Ontario to earn her license as an Optometrist in Canada through the International Optometric Bridging Program. She completed her studies via clinical rotations which included ocular disease, pediatrics, contact lens fitting, primary care and referral care in a tertiary medical center.

Dr. Navarrete is a member of the Alberta Association of Optometrist, Alberta College of Optometrist and the Canadian Optometric Association. Even with experience of more than 18 years on her side, Dr. Navarrete has not stopped her education.  She continues to research and implement technology available to optometrists throughout Canada in order to provide patients with the eye care they need. Both her practices, Grande Prairie Eye Care and Slave Lake Eye Care, offer to all area residents co-management with Opthalmologist in Edmonton (Alberta Retinal Consultants, Lasik MD Edmonton, Royal Alexandra Hospital-Regional Eye Centre), Westlock (Doctor Climenhaga) and Grande Prairie (Dr. Libby Hackenberg, Peace Lasik Centre, Dr. Steven Roberts) in cases of Diabetes, Glaucoma, Cataracts and all eye diseases as well.

Dr. Navarrete has a big family and loves to share her free time with her husband, kids and the dog.  Her hobbies are travel, salsa dance and latin music.
